The Anchor Practice is open

  • The Anchor Practice is open and accepting referrals from GPs, schools, psychologists and psychotherapists, as well as self – referrals. Our central Edinburgh clinic is conveniently located to serve Morningside, Portobello, Newington, Stockbridge, Bonnington, Merchiston, Leith and other surrounding areas.

We currently have availability to see new patients immediately.

The Anchor Practice has been established to provide a professional and responsive private psychotherapy service for children, adolescents and young people. We offer brief medium and long term psychotherapy, as well as other interventions for mental health problems in children and young adults

We specialise in psychodynamic psychotherapy for children and young people. This is an evidence based alternative to CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), and is currently a recommended treatment in NHS NICE guidelines. Psychodynamic psychotherapy is particularly helpful for children or young people who have not felt CBT to be useful, or where a mental health difficulty has not been adequately helped by other interventions. Child psychotherapy is currently a specifically recommended treatment for depression in adolescents.

Our clinicians are available to discuss your concerns over the phone. If you have worries about your child’s mental health then please get in touch – we can advise as to what kind of approach will be most helpful for you and your family.
